Hartwick College is a private college in Oneonta, New York, nestled in the scenic Catskill Mountains. With average class sizes of 15-20 students, you’ll spend time in this tight-knit community building strong relationships with peers and professors.
The teacher education program at Hartwick College prepares you for teacher certification in the following areas:
- Inclusive elementary education: get certified in childhood education (grades 1-6) and students with disabilities (grades 1-6).
- Adolescent education: get certified in various subject areas typically taught in middle and high school (grades 7-12).
You will spend at least 250 hours in the classroom before student teaching, getting real-world experience. Hartwick College is not a teacher factory. The small department size allows the College to focus on producing quality teachers, maintain a strong positive reputation with partner schools in the region, and place each student in the classroom after graduation.
