Sarah Lawrence College
About
Sarah Lawrence College, located in Bronxville, NY, offers a unique two-year Master of Science in Education (MSEd) program called the Art of Teaching. This integrated program leads to triple New York State certification in Early Childhood Education (birth to grade 2), Childhood Education (grades 1-6), and Early Childhood Students with Disabilities. They also offer an Early Childhood Special Education Advanced Certificate, allowing certified teachers to add a specialization in Early Childhood Disabilities through evening classes.
With a child-centered, inclusive and interdisciplinary approach, the program focuses on observation and reflection, preparing teachers for both public and private schools. Graduates benefit from hands-on experience in the college’s Early Childhood Center and in public schools. Small, seminar-style classes foster collaboration, and the program emphasizes justice and equity in education. Graduates receive ongoing support through the Saturday Seminar Series and offerings from the Child Development Institute.
