Excelsior Scholarship Program

The Excelsior Scholarship helps students in New York go to SUNY or CUNY colleges without paying tuition, as long as they meet the requirements.

To be eligible, you must: 

• Be a U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizen.
• Be pursuing an undergraduate degree at a SUNY or CUNY college or university.
• Have a combined federal household income of $125,000 or less.
• Be a New York State resident.
• Be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credits per term) and complete 30 credits per year toward your degree. 
• Live and work in New York State for the same number of years after graduation as you receive the scholarship. 
• You must also submit the FAFSA and the TAP application each year.
