As a graduate of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, Alan Tirre began his teaching career in the band room of the School of the Arts in the Rochester City School District. Since then, he has held roles in the same school as an administrator and now as the principal. He is respected by his students and puts the “pal” in principal. Over the years, Mr. Tirre has experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows as both a teacher and a principal, but has maintained humility, humor, and a deep sense of caring for all of his students, past and present.
In this fireside chat, Mr. Tirre will talk with TeachNY’s Evalyn Gleason, a former student. They’ll talk about Mr. Tirre’s journey to becoming a teacher, what inspired him, how he has moved up the ranks, and what makes him a great teacher. You’ll learn about the different pathways to becoming an educator and what possibilities lie beyond the classroom. And you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions of Mr. Tirre, and hear about his experience straight from the “horse's mouth.”
Join TeachNY for a not-to-be-missed opportunity to hear from one of the state’s best educators and start your journey to the classroom!
