You will primarily take general education courses before moving into your major in your sophomore year. You’re encouraged to take the Educating All Students test by your junior year and your Content Specialty Test by your senior year. During your last semester, you will complete a 15-week student teaching experience in a local classroom.

All STEM courses focus on teaching methods that incorporate hands-on learning, inquiry-based approaches, and problem-solving strategies, so you can encourage your future students to actively explore and apply concepts in real-world contexts.

All courses include 10-15 hours of hands-on fieldwork in local classrooms, allowing you to experience diverse school environments. 

You will have the opportunity to interact with Mercy's Center for STEM Education faculty and staff and participate in its community programs and activities.
