Program Info

SUNY Geneseo offers two undergraduate programs for future teachers interested in teaching grades 1-6. If you're seeking initial teacher certification in the childhood age range (grades 1-6), you will need to choose a dual certification area, either early childhood (birth- grade 2) or special education (grades 1-6). You will work toward your B.S. in Education degree throughout your undergraduate program.

Each program is organized into a sequence of six blocks of related courses. As part of your coursework, you will complete 150 hours of hands-on fieldwork before your student teaching experience. Your fieldwork allows you to gain practical experience in a local classroom and apply your learning.

You will thrive in Geneseo's small classes, where you'll get to know your professors and classmates well throughout your program.
