Your dream of becoming a teacher is within reach at UAlbany. With programs in early childhood, childhood, adolescent education and special education, there is a bachelor’s program for every future teacher.

The coursework will support your intellectual curiosity while covering subjects such as child and adolescent development, teaching methods, social and cultural contexts, reading instruction, instructional technology and more, equipping you with a comprehensive understanding of education practices. You will also study curriculum, standards, assessments, and teaching strategies and apply what you learn through in-classroom experience and student teaching.

With these experiences, you will be prepared to complete the New York State teaching certification requirements and lead your own class, ready to teach in today’s ever-changing, diverse classrooms.

In the adolescent education bachelor’s program, you will develop the in-classroom skills and subject-area expertise you need to work with students in Grades 7–12. Learn more.

In the childhood and special education bachelor’s program, you will develop the in-classroom skills and academic knowledge you need to work with students of all learning abilities in first to sixth grade and those with special needs across all grades. Learn more.
