The University of Rochester's Warner School of Education and Human Development believes education can transform lives and make the world more just and humane. This concept is vital to the University of Rochester's mission of Meliora — to make the world ever better. In service to this mission, Warner supports students to:
BECOME teachers and researchers who are knowledgeable, reflective, skilled, and caring educators who can make a difference in individual lives and their fields.
GENERATE and share knowledge leading to new understandings of education and human development, on which more effective educational policies and practices can be grounded.
COLLABORATE among fields, combining research, scholarship and practice to make a meaningful difference in schools and communities everywhere.
Few careers give you the opportunity to impact individuals and communities like teaching. Can you think of a specific teacher who made a difference in your life? Would you like to become that kind of teacher?
Warner will prepare you to become an innovative K-12 school teacher, empowered and able to help all students succeed. Warner's teacher preparation programs offer the shortest path to New York State initial and professional teaching certification.
All master's programs prepare you for New York State teaching certification and are only offered at the graduate level. If you're new to teaching, these programs are designed for you.
You must start the master's program leading to initial teaching certification in the summer if you want to complete it full-time in 15 months.
